Autumn 2012, an institution is reborn...

Rech, the Parisian fish restaurant taken over by Alain Ducasse in 2007, has changed its decor. Rech has become an unmissable address over the years, and is now flourishing in the gardens of the Maison de l'Amérique latine.

The story
In the 1920’s, a many Alsatians came to Paris to open seafood restaurants. Places like the Brasserie Wepler, Maison de l’Alsace, Lorraine, Baumann and Rech illustrated this phenomenon. At this time, only white wines from Alsace such as the Riesling or the Sylvaner along with local Alsasians family wines were considered to match perfectly with seafood.

L'histoire du restaurant de poissons Rech

Rech was created in 1925 when Adrien Rech arrived from Alsace to Paris. He first opened a grocery store which later became a restaurant where people could enjoy oysters from all around France. The bench of shellfish and oysters was settled down outside and the reputation of the restaurant started to grow all around Paris : an institution was born.

The success of the restaurant continued with the arrival of the Meunier couple at the helm of this already solid liner at the dawn of the 1970s, until Alain Ducasse discovered the establishment and chose to give it a new shine, a freshness and a new audacity in 2007.

The Parisian elite once again flocked to this gastronomic mecca, still inspired by a love of seafood.
RECH is now settled in an exceptional setting, worthy of its long and fine reputation for excellence.

It is in fact in part of the salons and garden of the Maison de l'Amérique latine, which unites the hotels of Varengeville and Amelot de Gournay in the heart of the boulevard Saint-Germain, that the fish restaurant now sets up its table.
The Parisian architect Marie Deroudilhe was responsible for giving the whole place a luminous and "marine" look without altering the premises, by playing with brass, blond woods, and by imagining a spectacular suspension subtly inspired by fishermen's nets and a magnificent seawater tank.

A nearly century-old institution, both rejuvenated and sublimated, which now offers a superb terrace, open all year round, overlooking one of the most beautiful gardens in the capital.
